ImagineIT Timeline
Reflecting back on the past semester and the implementation of my ImagineIT project, the students have really demonstrated knowledge acquisition through their creations. The students really love to showcase their accomplishments to peers and stakeholders. Over the past week, the students utilized their inventions as a culminating event for their final assessment for the semester. The creation of their project really tied in the real world mathematics and assisted with the students having a deeper understanding of the mathematics and their uses. In addition, it provided a platform for the students to be able to demonstrate their creativity and individuality. Furthermore, the students had the ability to practice their problem solving skills based on the various barriers that arose.
There were minimal changes in my students. Therefore, the students are going to continue utilizing the principles of the makerspace movement. The second semester, the projects will build on past ones. This will assist with strengthening their problem solving skills along with their application of mathematics in the real world. Furthermore, I would like to utilize the QuickFire challenges on a monthly basis. In addition, many students enjoy the “Extra Spicy Challenge” that will assist in differentiation of the lessons for the various students. Due to the budgeting issues faced locally, it is important to use donors choose or other modes to try to fund new and exciting challenges for the students.
The goal for this semester to focus on the inquiry phase and continue working on the students being problem solvers. The key will be to keep the students interest and continue working on their creative solutions to existing problems they face.

Update......
The students are starting to bring in the materials to complete the various projects at hand. They are thinking how they will apply transformations (reflections, rotations, and dilations) in the real world. The students, in groups, will either reorganize a room using the three topics or create an art project. Next, the students will vote on the most creative project.
